Zapped by power costs since deregulation
Frank Ruppert, Burdett - Letter to the Editor
You seem to be getting a lot of letters about the teachers and their unreasonable demands (I don't find them at all unreasonable) but one cost that has skyrocketed is the cost of electricity or at least the total power bill.
My last bill for 60 days was $262.41, with electricity at 6.46 cents/kwh, comparable with approximately the same kwh usage in January 2001, when the bill was for $195.90 at 11 cents/kwh and in October 1998 at 7.58 cents/kwh the bill was $128.99. That is just over a 100 per cent increase since deregulation.
I fail to see where this is better for us.
