The graph below shows net Alberta load (including imports, but excluding exports) for 1999 through 2001. Demand increased from 1999 to 2000 by about 268 MW, or roughly 5%. However, demand for 2001 shows a decrease of about 441 MW over the same period in 2000. IASA believes the decrease of almost 8% is a bad sign for Alberta industry, confirming that industries have curtailed production in Alberta due to high electricity costs.
